Aiming for National Merit or just a stronger score?
Either way, we start with a diagnostic. It shows us exactly what needs work.

Years of test prep experience
Most students treat the PSAT as a warmup. Their scores tell a different story — and so do the students who prepared seriously versus those who didn’t.
The PSAT covers Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Math — the same skills and format as the SAT, but slightly shorter. Scores range from 320 to 1520.
Usually in October of sophomore or junior year. Junior year scores are the ones that count for National Merit — that's the test you want your child fully prepared for.
Scoring above the state Selection Index cutoff in junior year qualifies students as National Merit Semifinalists — one of the most competitive and prestigious academic honors in college applications.
Preparing for the PSAT is preparing for the SAT. The formats are nearly identical. Students who do serious PSAT prep consistently perform better on the SAT — often by more than students who only prep for the SAT directly.
Texas is one of the most competitive states for National Merit. The Selection Index cutoff (your PSAT score converted to a qualifying index) typically falls in the 218–222 range for Texas students — which translates roughly to a 1450–1500+ PSAT score. Our tutors help students who are aiming at this benchmark specifically, not just general score improvement.
Unlike large classroom courses, every session focuses on your child’s individual strengths and weaknesses.
Our online PSAT tutoring includes everything needed to prepare confidently for test day.
The PSAT has two scored sections. We cover both, with different strategies for each — because the skills that move the Math score are completely different from the ones that move the Reading and Writing score.
PSAT Math covers a wide range — from pre-algebra and linear equations through quadratics, functions, and geometry. Most students have strong knowledge of some areas and significant gaps in others. We find the gaps first and close them before practicing timing.
The PSAT EBRW section combines reading comprehension and grammar editing into one score. Students need strong skills in both — and the approaches are quite different. We cover each part directly.
From your first consultation to test day, every step is designed to improve scores and build confidence.
We learn about your child's current score, target colleges, and PSAT goals. Then we recommend the tutoring plan that fits them best.
Every student starts with a diagnostic assessment. We pinpoint the exact skills, question types, and timing mistakes that are holding their score back.
No generic lessons. Your child's tutor creates a custom PSAT study plan that focuses on the areas with the biggest score improvement potential.
Every live online session is taught by the same certified PSAT tutor. Students receive one-on-one instruction, ask questions freely, and build skills with consistent guidance every week.
Students complete full-length Digital PSAT practice tests throughout the program. After each test, we review every mistake, track progress, and adjust the study plan to keep scores moving up.
Knowing the content is only part of the exam. We teach pacing, time management, question-solving strategies, and confidence techniques so students walk into the PSAT prepared for every section.
Free consultation — no commitment, just a plan.
The PSAT and SAT share the same format, the same question types, and the same underlying skills. The only real difference is that the PSAT is slightly shorter and the score scale tops out at 1520 instead of 1600.
When a student improves their reading comprehension strategy for the PSAT, that improvement carries directly into the SAT Reading section. When they close an algebra gap for PSAT Math, that same gap no longer exists on the SAT. PSAT prep is often the most efficient path to SAT readiness — and students who do it early consistently outperform those who start SAT prep cold in junior year.
Students who begin PSAT prep in sophomore year arrive at their junior PSAT — the one that counts for National Merit — with a year of deliberate preparation behind them. That advantage compounds. Their junior SAT follow-up is also stronger because the foundational skills were built earlier, not rushed.
The National Merit cutoff only applies to the junior year PSAT — there are no retakes. A student who falls just below the Texas Selection Index cutoff doesn't get another chance. That's why serious preparation before junior year — not during it — is what produces National Merit outcomes.

No taglines. Here’s what actually sets our SAT tutoring apart.
A result built over 10+ years of PSAT and SAT test prep — not a projected claim.
Every session is focused entirely on your child — no group class, no wasted time on skills they've already mastered.
Every PSAT tutor is a licensed educator with real test prep experience — someone who knows how to teach, not just how to score.
We find exactly where your child's points are being lost before a single lesson is planned.
Timed, full-length practice tests built into every plan — so the real test feels like a session they've already done.
No rotating instructors. Your child's tutor learns exactly how they think and what they need — and that knowledge compounds every week.
Every wrong answer is reviewed. Every test makes the next session more targeted.
PSAT prep that fits a high schooler's actual schedule — not a fixed class time that may or may not work.
The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a standardized test covering Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. It’s worth preparing for seriously for two reasons: junior year scores determine National Merit Scholarship eligibility, and the skills built for the PSAT transfer directly to the SAT — making it one of the most efficient investments in college prep a student can make.
Texas is one of the most competitive states. The Selection Index cutoff for Texas typically falls around 218–222, which generally corresponds to a PSAT score of approximately 1450–1500+. We help students who are targeting National Merit understand exactly what score they need and build a prep plan around that specific threshold.
Sophomore year is ideal for students with National Merit goals. That gives a full year before the junior PSAT — the one that counts — to close gaps, build skills, and take practice tests. Students who start in the summer before junior year can still make significant improvements, but earlier is always better for National Merit targeting.
Almost entirely. The PSAT and SAT share the same format, question types, and core skills. The PSAT is shorter and scores max out at 1520 instead of 1600. Preparing for the PSAT is preparing for the SAT — and students who do it early consistently outperform those who start SAT prep from scratch in junior year.
Yes — all our PSAT tutoring is live, one-on-one, and fully online. Sessions happen from home via video call, scheduled around your child’s school schedule, extracurriculars, and test date. No commute, no group class, no wasted time on material they already know.
It depends on the starting score, the target, and how often we meet. Most students see meaningful improvement after 8–12 focused one-on-one sessions. Students targeting National Merit cutoffs typically need 15–25 sessions for the score gains required in Texas. We’ll give you a realistic estimate after the diagnostic.
Yes. We cover both PSAT Math (algebra, advanced math, geometry, data analysis) and PSAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (reading comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar, editing). Sessions can be weighted toward the section costing your child the most points, or split evenly across both.
Yes. Some students need support in one area, while others prepare for the entire exam. We offer tutoring for individual PSAT subjects or complete PSAT preparation.
Yes. Full-length, timed PSAT practice tests are built into every prep plan. After each test, we review every section and every question type in detail. That analysis tells us exactly what to target next — and practice tests build the stamina and familiarity that reduces test-day anxiety.
Instead of following the same curriculum for every student, our one-on-one tutoring adapts to individual strengths, weaknesses, and learning pace. Students receive personalized instruction, immediate feedback, and targeted practice.
Three things: same certified tutor every session (no rotating instructors), a diagnostic-first approach that identifies the specific gaps costing points before we plan a single lesson, and a 90% success rate of students scoring 1300+. We don’t run a generic PSAT curriculum — we build a plan around your child’s actual score profile and test date.
Yes. Many of our students combine PSAT prep with subject tutoring in Math or English. Because the same certified teacher handles both, they already understand your child’s academic profile — which makes PSAT prep faster and more targeted than starting fresh with a separate program.
PSAT scores themselves are not submitted to colleges. However, qualifying as a National Merit Semifinalist or Commended Student through PSAT performance can significantly strengthen a college application and make students eligible for scholarship funding from universities and corporate sponsors. The indirect impact on college outcomes can be substantial.
We work with students from Dallas ISD, Plano ISD, Frisco ISD, Allen ISD, McKinney ISD, Richardson ISD, and surrounding DFW districts, as well as private and charter school students. All sessions are online, so we also serve students anywhere in Texas.
Tell us your child’s current score, their goal — whether that’s National Merit or a strong SAT foundation — and their test date. We’ll build a realistic one-on-one PSAT prep plan from there.
